In-person Worship Action Plan

The goal of this action plan is to return to in-person worship in the most safe and meaningful way possible, in accordance with CDC guidelines and recommendations.

  1. We strongly encourage members who feel sick or have a family member that is sick to stay home and watch the service online
  2. Everyone entering the church will be asked to wear a face covering and maintain six feet of physical distance while inside the church
  3. Two ushers will help before service to point out the bulletins, offering plate, baskets of face coverings, and attendance sheets
  4. No greeters until further notice
  5. We will provide attendance sheets in the bulletins and encourage congregation members to leave them in the pews after service
  6. Ushers will pick up attendance sheets after service
  7. Worship will be limited to a single service at 10:15am on Sundays
  8. Worship leaders (pastor, assistant minister, singers, and pianist) will not wear a face covering during the worship service
  9. No one other than the pastor and assistant minister will be allowed in the sacristy and/or the chancel immediately before/during/after the service
  10. The first two rows of pews will be roped off to increase the distance between the worship leaders and congregation
  11. Every third row of pews will be open for seating with the rest of the pews roped off
  12. Family groups will be encouraged to maintain at least six feet of physical distance between the next family group in their pew
  13. No acolytes until further notice
  14. No full choir rehearsals/performances until further notice
  15. The nursery will be closed until further notice
  16. The changing table will be moved to the Wittenberg Room
  17. The entire upper parking lot will be considered handicap parking ONLY and members with disabilities will be encouraged to park in the upper lot to limit elevator use
  18. Offering plate will remain in the narthex and will not be passed
  19. Bulletins and PowerPoint will contain all needed text and lyrics so that hymnals will not be needed but hymnals will be available to be used if desired
  20. Communion elements will be set before the service begins and not brought to the front during the service
  21. Communion will be distributed by pastor and assistant minister (only one station), one family group at a time
  22. During communion, pastor and assistant minister will wear a face covering and gloves
  23. An usher will invite each family group individually to come forward for communion
  24. If this action plan is accepted by the church council, we will have a "soft open" service with council members and their families on Sunday, July 19
  25. If the "soft open" service goes well, we will invite the rest of the congregation to worship with us in-person starting Sunday, July 26
  26. We will continue to stream the services live using an iPhone and Facebook live
  27. All surfaces we will cleaned and sanitized before/after each service
